1) What is the preferred reading of a media text? The preferred reading of a media text is what the producer wants us to view the media text. 2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text? The oppositional reading of a media text is an interpretation that goes against or challenges the intended or preferred meaning that the creator of the text may have intended. 3) How does the Harry Brown trailer position the audience to respond to the teenage characters in the film? The clip is based on teenage life in the UK and the producers want the audience to think all teenagers are savages and rebellious meaning they are more likely going to form a gang.   4) Why might young people reject this reading and construct an oppositional reading of the trailer? Because it gives the vast majority of young people a negative image as not all of them are miserable, doing crimes and causing chaos. 5) Write a 150+ word analysis of the McDonald's advert using preferred, negotiated and oppositional

Demographics and Psychographics: blog task

1) What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience? They use segmentation and separate their audience into subgroups such as age, gender, education, social class, race/ethnicity, jobs and home, which is about where they live. For example: cities, villages and countryside. 2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics? Because people might think that using demographics and creating subgroups (the idea of segmentation) is stereotypical and audience profiling helps increase conversion . 3) What psycho-graphic group of groups do you belong in? Think about your own interests and lifestyle and explain your decision. Remember, you may fit into two or three different groups! I think that I fit into the mainstreaming groups of psycho-graphics as i always follow the most trusted brands and trending ones and i also it into the group called the aspire, since i am into fashion and different sty

Mise-En-Scene Stranger Things.

choose THREE aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. costume, lighting and setting) and write a short paragraph for each about the denotation and connotation and what is communicated to the audience. COSTUME: The character at the start is wearing a white lab coat. this suggests to the audience that the topic of the photo could be sci-fi or could have correlations of a doctor. As we continue watching the clip we can see that the genre is 80s sci-fi. LIGHTING: In the mise en scene, there is a bright light above the actor. This suggests to the audience that the character is overwhelmed by the situation of the overbearing lights. We can also infer that by the lack of light in the background, the single bulb being the only way to see the environment around him. SETTING: For the setting, it is in a shed and looks to be full of storage while also messy.
